I'd like to propose some sort of pre-break geek night but that depends on everyone's plans. So spill, what're you gonna be doing next week? Edit: whoops, this is for geeken_nacht. Reposting shortly... November 10th, 2006: Holiday season with Klein Four For October 23rd, 2006: I have seen the future Okay, even though I'm rather broke at the moment, I was poking around on thinkgeek anyway tonight and stumbled upon something rather eerie that I feel the need to share: my action figure alterego. October 18th, 2006: I'm a winner! I won a drawing at the health fair last week, and I picked up my winnings earlier today. Turns out I got a whole box of random stuff: September 25th, 2006: Dancing queen Because I obviously haven't been doing enough dancing, I found another place to go: Argentine tango and other latin dances, Monday nights (tonight!) at the Attic, 314 2nd St. Starting at 6:45pm. This one's free, and I think it runs for a couple hours. About an hour of tango and an hour of other stuff. So I'm checking it out tonight, if anyone else wants to join me. September 23rd, 2006: Kari and Grant are awesome I just got back from a presentation with Kari and Grant from Mythbusters. They did a blooper reel with the stuff that doesn't make it past the censors, and then did an interview and had questions from the audience. Afterwards, they did pictures and booksignings (and I was actually there selling books. I got paid to be there). I got a chance to meet them briefly once everyone left, and got pictures with them. They were really nice, and love our window cows (a myth the ASUI reps were proud to bust just before the show). Unfortunately my camera was dumb and the pics came out all blurry. But it was still a lot of fun. August 15th, 2006: And the results are in... I passed! I dropped by the psych dept today, did a bit of paperwork, turned in my office keys (and swiped my toaster back from the grad office), and now I'm all done. The official piece of paper will arrive in a few weeks. No more school. I'm not sure exactly what to do now, but I suppose I need to ramp up my search for gainful employment. July 19th, 2006: HF Exam, Part 2 I took the second part of my master's exam this morning, and just got the results back. Surprisingly enough, I actually passed (I wasn't sure, and it was pretty borderline, but I made it). I have to schedule part 3 for next week. But this was the part I was most concerned about, and somehow I pulled it off. :) March 20th, 2006: my baby's back! I was running a little late heading in to campus this morning, but that turned out to be a good thing. Around 10:30 I got a visit from the DHL guy, delivering my laptop! Just in time to pop the hard drive and extra RAM back into it and take it in to campus. The note they included says that I now have a new motherboard, heat sink, and a new DVD player for my laptop. So now my laptop is working nicely, and I'm happy again. I even got it back a couple days earlier than I expected. Tags: laptop March 9th, 2006: This is a dead laptop. Well, it finally happened. As some of you know, my laptop has been having issues for a while. Last night it shut off, and never woke up again..... Luckily, it's still under warrantee for the next 33 days. So hopefully I'll get it fixed soon. But in the meantime I'll have to suffer without, and I probably won't be on IM as much. I will try to cart around my rarely used cell phone more often til my baby's fixed. Let me know if you desire the number. Edit: I got home this afternoon, and the laptop decides to turn on again now. But obviously this needs to be fixed, and before the warantee expires. I also have an email from tech support, and they shall replace my motherboard, heat sink and fan. But I will be laptopless for a week when I send it away. Now I really wish I was going somewhere for spring break, at least then I'd have something interesting to distract me from my laptoplessness. Since I figure most of you don't read the Washington Post, this was an amusing article today. I'm glad to know we're prepared to deal with the Canadian menace if necessary. Raiding the Icebox September 16th, 2005: birthday Well, another birthday has gone by, taking me past the quarter century mark. I went out with a few of my officemates for dinner on Wednesday (the mexican place out at East Side). I managed to avoid the singing employees, apparently there aren't enough of them to sing during the week. But I was forced to wear a sombrero while my officemates sang. I'm a bit worried where that picture will turn up. Jayme also gave me a present, a few office toys from the dollar store. I'm sure those will prove useful this semester. On my actual birthday last night I was at Audra's, for a potluck dinner and cheesy scifi night. I have a feeling this will become a regular thursday night event. It's gonna take 5 more weeks before we finish Dune. I brought in a cake for my dinner contribution (spice cake, just to be punny). Kevin remembered my birthday and decided to put candles on my own cake to celebrate, so I got the cake and singing bit in between movies from everyone there. I noticed there were 11 candles on the cake, too. I'm apparently so old now that representing my age in candles is a fire hazard. A definite milemarker. August 28th, 2005: I have an lj Yes, this is my new lj. No, I still don't have anything to write about in one. But perhaps now certain people will stop nagging. |
